Los Angeles - Holiday Inn Los Angeles Downtown: "OK for a budget stay in LA"
Reviewer: Los Angeles visitor, London, England

This is an OK trip for someone who wants a budget hotel. The rooms are clean and very spacious with nice views of LA. Close to transportation as the number 20 bus which stops 2 blocks away outside the Good Samaritan Hospital takes you all the way from downtown LA along the whole length of Wilshire Boulevard, through to Beverly Hills and terminates in Santa Monica - a cheap trip for $1.35! There is also a Metro station about 5-7 minutes walk away. Centrally located and walking distance to to major department stores (Macy's and Robinson May) and very easy to get around once you get your bearings, you can also get to Venice Beach and other major shopping areas. The ice machine did not work on my floor but that did not bother me. Only negative side is that the street and area that the hotel is located left a lot to be desired (i.e. quite run down and there is a homless shelter called 'Dome City' round the back which I did not know about until I went on a sightseeing tour) but I did not feel unsafe at any time (I was a lone female traveller ). The staff are friendly and helpful (bar two of the concierge staff); and the hotel must obviously be quite popular as it was full when I was there.

Los Angeles - Holiday Inn Los Angeles Downtown: "Not very great..."

Hotel rooms were clean, and staff were friendly. Bad area of town. Unable to walk to the convention center. The shuttle to the convention center was always late if it showed up at all. Pool was nice, and restuarant was nice.
